AMBASSADORS

 
  • The Ambassadors serve as church representatives who reveal the message of God through prayer, assisting members and visitors as they arrive on the church premises, greeting worshippers, and helping to secure the house of God, the people in it, and the ministries involved with it.  

  • Focus scripture: “So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us.  We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”  2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT)

BAPTISM

 

  • Through baptism, believers accept God’s gift of grace through Jesus Christ and yield our lives to the leading of the Holy Spirit. The purpose of the Baptism ministry is to assist in disciplining new believers into the Christian Church Universal, the family of Christ.

  •  Focus scripture: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”  Matthew 28:19 (NIV)

COMMUNION STEWARDS

 
  • The Communion Stewards assist the pastor with meeting the spiritual needs of the people by administering a sacrament and covenant ordained by Christ as evidence or our redemption and eternal salvation through Christ’s resurrection and glorious life. 

  • Focus scripture: “And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.’ ” 1 Corinthians 11:24, 25

GREETERS

 
  •  The Greeters greet and welcome all worshipers to St. John’s UMC with a sincere spirit in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. The Greeters promote feelings of genuine love, caring, and understanding among all persons choosing to worship at St. John’s.

  • The Ushers serve the members, family, and guests of St. John’s by directing and assisting individuals as needed in a way that makes each person feel accepted, comfortable, and important.
